CoCo Key – Kansas City

This water resort addition and renovation to the existing rooms and common areas to the Sheraton Kansas City Sports Complex Hotel is an indoor, tropical getaway, and marked our seventh partnership with CoCo Key.

The entire space was designed to emulate historic Key West, FL, and provides a relaxing, cost-effective escape for families near and far.  Horizon coordinated the entire design and construction process, including architectural, engineering, aquatics, and theming to build the one-of-a-kind resort.  We also assisted with site due diligence and project entitlement services.

As an additional service to the project owner, we pursued $4.6 million in tax abatements as part of Kansas City’s redevelopment plan. We coordinated extra improvements to the hotel property and worked closely with Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (MBE and WBE) to help advance the city’s mission.

The completed water resort features twisting water slides, an adventure river, a large play structure, an indoor/outdoor spa, and other aquatic attractions. Guests also enjoy access to a large arcade, several party rooms, and a themed lounge area.
